PlayStation Showcase 2021 Summary: Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, God of War Ragnarok Trailer

Sony showed off a slew of new games as well as trailers for highly anticipated titles at this year’s annual PlayStation showcase. Following is a summary of all new announcements and reveals.

God of War Ragnarok Gameplay Trailer and Additional Details

We’ve finally been given our first look at the next iteration in the God of War series. The showcase premiered the first full trailer for God of War Ragnarok, showing off gameplay and story details. Atreus is a little older, Freya still seems to have a bone to pick with Kratos, and we hear Thor’s voice for the first time.

Game director Eric Williams confirmed during the Q&A section at the end of the showcase that the god of thunder has been voiced by Ryan Hurst of Sons of Anarchy fame and that West Wing‘s Richard Schiff is the voice of the Allfather Odin. He said that the game’s take on Thor is truer to Norse mythos, describing him as a “big, burly, almost hedonistic man-child” with red hair. Update: we now have a picture!

Williams added that God of War Ragnarok would “cap off” the series’ Norse chapter. The PS4- and PS5-exclusive’s release was recently pushed back to 2022, with an exact date yet to be announced.
