Fortnite Mobile System Requirements For iOS Devices

Fortnite may have hopped onto the battle royale bandwagon after PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds made a name for itself, but it has since raced far ahead of its competitor, at least in community satisfaction and concurrent players. It was no real surprise when the Epic Games title decided to follow PUBG and make the jump to mobile as well. Initially available as an invitation-only offering on the iOS App Store, Fortnite’s mobile variant has now been released for everyone worldwide, as of this writing, still only on iOS.

While mainstream multiplayer titles the likes of PUBG and Fortnite are a welcome addition to the mobile space, their demanding nature may be too much for certain older devices to handle. If you’re concerned whether your aging iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will be able to run the game smoothly, rest assured you are not alone, and that we’re here to help.

In the following, you’ll find the minimum system/device requirements for mobile version of Fortnite.

Fortnite Requirements on iOS

iOS version: iOS 11.0 or above

Officially supported (recommended) devices:

  • iPhone SE, iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone X
  • iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad (5th generation, 2017), 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro

As the game’s App Store description mentions, there is no official support for iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus; iPad Air, Mini 2, Mini 3; or 6th-generation iPod touch, though the devices are mentioned as compatible in the information section at the bottom of the App Store page. This implies that the aforementioned iOS 11-ready devices may be able to run the game, but not without problems, such as unexpected crashes.

Storage/size: ~3.5GB (as of version 3.4.2)

The game is a ~130MB download from the App Store, with the rest downloaded after it is launched for the first time.
