Apex Legends Adding Solo Mode For Limited Time Next Week
While Apex Legends has been lauded for its class-based take on battle royale, players have, for quite some time now, been asking for a solo mode, as that is something nearly all other BR titles have offered since the very beginning. Those who prefer to go it alone (as well as those with a penchant for blaming teammates) will be pleased to know that the game will soon be getting a solo mode.
In an announcement across the game’s social media accounts developer Respawn Entertainment announced that a new solo mode is making its way to the game next week, but only for a limited time, as part of the Iron Crown Collection Event.
Next week, only one can reign.
The Iron Crown Collection Event featuring an all-new Solos limited time mode begins 8/13.
It’s likely Respawn is looking to test the waters with the new mode before it considers making it a permanent feature. There are, of course, no guarantees that the mode will make a return, regardless of how it is received by the player-base. If the game is to follow Fortnite‘s example, the mode may remain a limited-time affair, returning every now and then as part of a special event.
Solos may not be every player’s cup of tea, however. Those investing hour upon hour into the new Ranked game mode that came with Season 2 may be looking forward to more pragmatic changes, such as improvements to server stability and hit registration – two commonly heard qualms among the player-base. It is good to see, though, that the game continues to add new content, as promised at Respawn’s E3 showing this year.
It’ll be interesting to see how legends match up against each other in solo bouts. In the default squad mode, the right synergy can help characters compensate for each other’s weaknesses. In solos, however, players may find themselves at an overall disadvantage when playing with certain legends.
The new Solos game mode will be available to play from August 13 to August 27.
