How to Download Call of Duty: Warzone Battle Royale for Free [PC, PS4, Xbox One]

The long-awaited and heavily leaked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode, Warzone, is now finally available to download. The new mode was released earlier today both as an update to Modern Warfare and a separate free-to-play offering on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

If you already own Modern Warfare, all you need to do is update the game, with that update weighing in at 15-22 GB depending on your platform of choice. The new patch, once downloaded, will unlock the new Warzone section on the main menu, which was previously labeled “Classified.” Those who don’t own the base game can download the standalone version of Warzone for free by heading on over to callofduty.com/warzone or directly from their platform’s respective online storefront.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners can download the game from the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store respectively.

On PC, the Warzone is available through Battle.net. You will, of course, need a free Battle.net account and the Battle.net client installed on your system to download and the game. With that taken care of, launch the client and switch to the Call of Duty: MW section under Partner Games. You’ll find details regarding Warzone on the right as well as a Play for Free button that will begin the download after you have selected the installation directory.

The standalone version of Call of Duty: Warzone is a hefty 83-101 GB download, so be prepared to wait. Maybe plan an overnight download and if you don’t have an unlimited data plan, you may want to check your usage limit before you subject your connection to the data drain.
