The Last Scene Of Star Wars 9 Will Melt Your Mind, Reveals Kevin Smith

In an interview with IGN at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Kevin Smith revealed that he had been given the chance to view the set of the final shot inStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and that he was told it would melt his mind.

The filmmaker said that after suffering a heart attack in early 2018, he got a message from director J.J. Abrams, inviting him to the set of the upcoming space epic.

When I had the heart attack, he wrote me and he was like, ‘You gotta pull through, man, so you can come visit Star Wars.’

Smith, after having recovered from his health scare, took Abrams up on his offer at a time when the studio happened to be filming the final shot of the movie. The talk on the set, Smith explains, suggested it was quite a sight to behold.

They were like, ‘You have to see this – when you see it, it will melt your mind.’

Kevin, being an avid fan of the franchise and with a cameo in The Force Awakens to boot, wanted to have a look. Abrams, on the other hand, suggested against it. As eager as he was to take a peak, Smith agreed not to spoil his movie with a look behind the curtain.

He goes, ‘You don’t want this spoiled. You wanna be in a theater when this happens. Trust me.’ […] As inquisitive as I am and curious as I am, I desperately wanted to go look, but like, when you talk to the magician and the magician is like, ‘Trust me on this one’… you know sometimes as human beings, we wanna know how they pull the rabbit out of the hat, but J.J.’s such a magical magician that I’m like, ‘You know what? Do it. Trick me. I’ll wait and get tricked.’
