How To Discover The Fate Of Marko Dragic In Red Dead Redemption 2 (Artificial Intelligence Trophy)

Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Western epic Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for a while now, and as if its record-breaking launch-day sales weren’t enough of a testament to its popularity, the open-world game is still going strong over the Web. It makes sense, too. Rockstar’s sandbox titles have always enjoyed months, even years of consistent interest past their release dates, and for good reason. Like its predecessors, Red Dead Redemption 2 offers a level of depth you will seldom see in other games.

Players who bought the game on launch day, or shortly thereafter, are likely still hunting their last few trophies across its vast virtual plains. If you too have played through the entirety of the main game and are now looking to unlock your remaining achievements, one relatively easy achievement to cross off your list is “Artificial Intelligence,” which tasks players with discovering the fate of the blunt Serbian inventor Marko Dragic.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

If you tried your best to complete any side-missions that popped up on the map as you played through the core campaign, you’ve probably already played through the two missions in the Dragic storyline. If not, after you’ve played through to Chapter 4, head on over to Saint Denis between 6 AM – 6 PM for the first mission, which tasks you with riding a small radio-controlled boat – a proof-of-concept and not a toy, as Marko himself insists.

For the second mission, you will have to travel all the way to the top-right corner of the map. The mission marker should pop up over Marko’s lab in Doverhill during the night (between 10 PM and 5 AM, specifically) a whole day after your first encounter with the inventor. This time around, Dragic asks you to set up lightning rods outside his lab to harness the power of the ongoing storm for a mystery project. The project turns out to be an automaton – a robot – that sputters to life amidst Marko’s Frankenstein-esque cries of joy, only to drop to the ground lifeless after its first few steps. Marko seems unfazed, however, and asks you to return at a later date for more of the same.

For the final piece, and the achievement, wait two to three days – you can set up camp and sleep from morning to night, then repeat to pass time – then head on back to Marko’s lab. The game does not display a mission marker on the map for this bit, so you will have to find the lab on your own.

The location of Marko Dragic’s lab.

You should find the mad scientist lying dead on the floor in a pool of his own blood beside the cage that contained the robot, now empty. Simply looking at Marko’s body should unlock the Artificial Intelligence trophy. In Marko’s right hand, you will find the Electric Lantern, which you can pick up.

“Professor… where’s your invention now?”

Before you leave, search around the lab to pick up a couple of additional items, including a note with sketches of the robot and one that reveals Dragic intended to mass-produce his automatons until he had an army large enough for – you guessed it – world domination. Now we know what could’ve happened if Nikola Tesla had lost his mind.

While this isn’t required for the achievement, there is indeed a way to find the missing automaton, though that’s a post for another time.
